Hailes Quarry Park Vision

Client
Edinburgh & Lothian Greenspace Trust

Project Description
Development of a Landscape Vision to meet the requirements of local people and visitors. The overall scale of the site (approx 15ha) and its strategic canal side location allows the Park enormous potential as a major community resource for the South West of Edinburgh not just its surrounding communities. The envisaged site stabilisation in 2010 provides a significant milestone for the development of proposals and for the identification of a strategic overview for the next 3-5 years.

Main Components
Execution of the commission requires design flair and innovation to fully reflect the park objectives, address the opportunities and physical constraints and consider the community drivers. Maximising opportunities to integrate a sustainable approach to water treatment, materials recycling, energy efficiency and local qualities of place will be fundamental to the development and management of the park. Consultation with community representatives/ stakeholders and community groups form an essential part of the commission.

Services Provided
Research, masterplanning to develop the Vision, consultation illustration and costing of proposals all to be provided in-house.
