Lochshore, Glengarnock Development Framework

Client
Scottish Enterprise

Project Description
Masterplanning/Urban Design/Place Making, delivering a mixed use development of 1,100 homes on 96ha brownfield, edge-of-centre site to the west of Beith, North Ayrshire. The “Lochshore Development Framework” was endorsed by North Ayrshire Council and sought to provide an attractive environment for investment, a wider green network and good linkages between communities. We provided masterplan scenarios which support key-place making objectives of: Distinct identity; safe, pleasant and appealing spaces; Offer ease of movement and Express a sense of welcome. The masterplan scenarios sought to develop effective connections to Kilbirnie town centre, Glengarnock rail station and Lochshore.

The Masterplan Framework supports the wider provision of sustainability measures by embedding best-practice within the site and housing design, applying the standards provided by Ecohome and BREEAM.
