New South Glasgow Hospital Environmental Statement

In December 2010 the new £842 million South Glasgow Hospitals received final funding approval by the Scottish Government. It will be Scotland's largest hospital and will transform health services throughout the West of Scotland.

Ironside Farrar are pleased to have provided environmental and planning consultancy services to NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde from 2006-2009 and to Brookfield Multiplex Europe since late 2009.

In 2006 Ironside Farrar were commissioned by the Health Board to undertake the EIA of the exemplar design proposal for the hospitals project on the site of the Southern General Hospital. In mid 2009 we prepared the 2009 Campus Masterplan to facilitate the lodging of a full detailed planning application for the £60m Laboratories, Facilities Management and City Mortuary on the NSGH site. In November 2009 we were commissioned by Brookfield Multiplex Europe to provide planning consultancy services up to Final Business Case for the project.

This culminated in the approval of the 2010 Campus Masterplan in June 2010, detailed architectural, landscape and transportation proposals in October 2010, and SUDS, ground contamination and noise control issues in December 2010. Construction of the new hospitals commenced in March 2011 for completion in early 2015.
