Design Guidance for Rural Signage Interpretation

Client
South Lanarkshire Council

Project Description
Development of a design guidance report and associated templates to establish consistency in the quality and style of visitor interpretation within the rural area. It was identified that there was a need to create a better connected visual style for the way in which visitor information is provided, ranging from physical signs, printed leaflets and online web resources. As part of the exercise a range of graphics were developed to establish a sense of brand identity and help promote the rural area.

The project was developed to include a stand alone Signage Design Toolkit to provide an easy-to-use reference manual by community groups and other signage implementers. Detailed guidance was provided based on current best practice and included recommendation for content, balance of information, designing for accessibility and ensuring compliance with the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
