  • Urban Design and Streetscape Proposals for the site area including the key spaces of George Square, Bristo Square and Potterrow Consultation with stakeholders, City of Edinburgh Council, Edinburgh World Heritage and Historic Scotland
  • Design Documentation, including design briefs and outline costings
  • Design guidance documentation
  • Signage Strategy- proposals and costings
  • Extensive public consultation

Main Components
The aim was to provide a document with planning endorsement, to lead and inform design decisions as funding is received to implement packages of works. The University of Edinburgh identified the need for a more legible site identity within Edinburgh City Centre. There were also issues of quality that required addressing. Ironside Farrar developed a comprehensive masterplan, addressing these issues to create a consistency for the campus through the use of a palette of quality natural stone, avenue tree planting, street furniture, signage and lighting.
