Ironside Farrar are looking for an ambitious Project Engineer to join our successful civil engineering team, based in Edinburgh. Predominantly working for our key clients in the developer sector.

Roles & Responsibilities:
The role requires a confident engineer that can take responsibility for day-to- day running of projects, supporting clients and delivering positive outcomes. They will have a key role in the Edinburgh team – collaborating with staff at all levels, and our clients.
You will be responsible for the production of technical designs, and report writing. This will include detailed design, feasibility studies, drainage strategies, schematic designs, masterplan designs, drawings and specifications for infrastructure projects associated with public and privately funded developments.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities and attributes:
- Bachelors (or Masters) Level Degree in relevant field. Ideally working towards chartered status
- Bachelors (or Masters) Level Degree in relevant field. Ideally working towards a professional qualification.
- Consultancy experience working in the UK development secto.
- 5+ years of experience in similar role.
- Excellent communicator with ability to answer technical queries from Clients and Contractors.
- Strong inter-personal skills and the ability to be confident and pro-active in liaising with clients, local authorities, and wider stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to independently manage time and resource across multiple projects, including managing junior staff.
- An enthusiastic approach to professional work and a ‘can-do’ attitude.
- Proficient with the use of AutoCAD.
- Significant experience of 3d modelling software for earthworks and road designs (preferably using PDS).
- Knowledge and experience in the use of drainage design software (Microdrainage and / or Causeway PDS Flow).
- Solid working knowledge and experience of Sustainable Drainage (SuDS) designs and standards.
- Good understanding of latest sewerage sector guidance and legislation.
- Experience of progressing technical submissions through to approvals from relevant authorities including Road Construction Consents (RCCs) and Scottish Water technical approvals.
