Landscape Planner, EDINBURGH (Full-Time / Part-Time / Flexible Hours Appointment)

Our Landscape Planning Team is seeking a Graduate Planner or Landscape Architect with an interest in working in landscape planning and design for greenspace, active travel, outdoor recreation and community regeneration and engagement.

Working in our Landscape Planning Team we are seeking individuals with good communications, graphics, written ability and interest in environmental planning and design. Our workload includes a wide range of projects involving feasibility studies, place-making, consultation and engagement working with local groups and trusts and supported by our in-house multi-disciplinary design teams. Current and recent projects include


  • Falkirk HELIX Park, Orkney Heritage Trails; Open Space Strategies & Action Plans; Ravenscraig Park; Heritage Trails; Active Travel and Cycle Routes, Outdoor Recreation, Forestry Strategies, and similar
  • Consultation and engagement associated with projects and funding submissions including ISM / Place Standard / Co-Design Workshops and participatory appraisal.

The post is Edinburgh based and could be full-time/ part-time or a flexible appointment to suit. Development Planner, EDINBURGH

We are seeking to strengthen our Development Planning Team with an Associate Appointment to undertake a range of Masterplanning, Feasibility Studies, Development Planning and Business Case and Funding Support commissions associated with a range of developments. Diverse and challenging in scope the appointment offers strong career progression in a key area of the practice’s workload. Current work activity includes:


  • City Deal Business Case; Regeneration Capital Grants; Lottery Grants’; Building Scotland Fund; Accelerator Growth Deal; Community Link Plus; Scottish Land Fund; and similar
  • Funding submissions for projects as diverse as HELIX Living Landmark; Major Parks & Heritage Projects; Ports; National Infrastructure; Cultural Activities; Community Infrastructure; Other
  • Client and community engagement and ‘hands-on’ leading role in developing project strategies and developing innovative routes for project delivery, partnership working and funding

Senior / Associate Contaminated Land Specialist / Environmental Scientist, EDINBURGH

Ironside Farrar are looking for an enthusiastic contaminated land specialist with around 5 years’ plus experience to join our award-winning Edinburgh practice. We would be happy to consider applicants keen to work on a part-time basis or those with a chemistry background but less experience and willing to learn.

The successful applicant will work within our geoenvironmental/geotechnical and wider design teams on a wide range of genuinely interesting and challenging projects. We are looking for a candidate with strong contaminated land risk assessment experience including SI and assessment of water/human health risks. Previous involvement in EIA and consents including CAR, WML and PPC would also be an advantage.

You will bring fresh ideas with a willingness to communicate and contribute fully to teams and projects. You must have an excellent written communication and analytical skills and enjoy a fast paced and varied workload. Experience:

  • Appropriate degree in an environmental or related subject such as chemistry, civil engineering, geology, environmental sciences or environmental engineering.
  • Masters level degree in an environmental discipline desirable but not essential for the right candidate.
  • Membership of relevant professional institution at an appropriate level
  • Full clean driving licence.


Skills:

  • Articulate with strong numerate and written communication style with experience of producing robust professional reports
  • Use of risk assessment software such as CL:aire, ConSim, P20 etc
  • Enthusiastic with a ‘can do’ approach with good organisational skills /time and workload management
